“A moving tribute.”

Founded by choreographer Wolfgang Stange in 1980 The Amici Dance Theatre Company combines the talents of disabled and non-disabled artists. Our Times is a celebration of his life - he died in December 2024 - with his partner, the artist George Bevan and of his company through the years in eight scenes set in London, Sri Lanka – Bevan comes from there – Berlin and finally London. The company is superbly drilled and very moving to watch how the non-disabled help their fellow artists while Ross Black and Gurpreet Dosanjh dance the roles of the two founders backed by live music, songs and images on a vast video screen at the back of the stage. As well as a celebration of one man's life it is also a celebration of the company's 45 years of work. Based at the Lyric Hammersmith Amici Dance Theatre holds weekly dance classes there. The show, originally planned by Stange, is choreographed by Elaine Thomas and directed by Michael Vale and has moments to make you laugh, some to make you cry.
