Comic blasts from the past. Gad sirs, damned good Show!
Played in grey frockcoats, wing collared shirts and red cravats there are punchlines, gags and very funny japes all the way through. Sketches range across the Victorian world - remote battlefields, meeting the father who may withhold his daughter’s hand, duels and more.

Using Dan Dare-like music, dashing here and there or striking stances, the four dapper young men really entertain and there are no dull moments. One deploys his lofty height with skill, another at one point reveals all with wild and hilarious abandon, one seems quite hairy and slightly swarthy, the final one has a squeaky clean demeanour. The Penny Dreadfuls all work very well with each other, their faces and their movements a joy to watch.

Look out for this quartet. After their sell out Festival show in 2006 they appeared on BBC3 this March, and they’re in talks about more TV and possibly radio. Judging by the way they kept the full audiences laughing for the full hour this Fringe, these comic blasts from the past will be rocking many more audiences in the future.

Performed by Jamie Anderson, Humphrey Ker, David Reed and Thom Tuck.
