Imaginative voyage of discovery.
Jason, the guy who went off for the golden fleece, is the hero of an old and much told story. Andy (Tim Settle) keeps on wanting to update it introducing modern superheroes like Spiderman but Simon Donaldson’s Josh reins him back to telling it more traditionally. Settle and Donaldson switch the roles back and forth with aplomb so you’re never in doubt who is who. With Robin Peoples’ superb, multitasking and convertible cart we get all sorts of places - mountains, the Argo’s ship and the dangerous Clashing Rocks.

There’s also a handsome muscular crew who really are Action Men. The mix of thrill, humour and derring-dos is told at an excellent pace by two actors who make you wish you too had a quest to follow, even a Harpy to outwit. Ancient stories have a lot of potential life and energy, Robert Forrest’s version in Douglas Irvine’s well rigged production brings this one in to a modern audience in such a way its cargo will stay in the audiences’ minds for life as all best tellings do.
