ROYAL SHAKESPEARE THEATRE TO GO

Royal Shakespeare Company artistic director Adrian Noble has announced the demolition of the famous Royal Shakespeare Theatre (RST) on the bankside at Stratford-upon-Avon.

Famous though it is, the 70 year old RST has often been thought unsuitable for modern Shakespearean production and numerous attempts have been made by directors to overcome the problems it presents.

Plans are now announced for a 1100 seat theatre fit for purpose to be built on the site.
